Redwater Creek Steam Railway and Heritage Society runs SteamFest every year and the Steam train every month as a means of raising the funds necessary to meet their greater goal. This goal could be summarised as follows:

  • Preserving our working industrial age heritage;
  • Maintenance of key equipment such as a chaff cutter, threshing drum, straw press, locomotives and rolling stock in operating condition for future generations to see;
  • Encourage the learning of such skills as blacksmithing, fitting and machining etc. needed to maintain this equipment.
  • Providing training opportunities for those who want to be licensed to drive steam machinery.

SteamFest, which runs over three days every long weekend in March, is the perfect opportunity to see these machines in operation and these skills being demonstrated.
